CVRD Director Gerry Giles Has Endorsed A Cell Phone Tower For Cobble Hill!

The other day I wrote a piece about cell phone reception, dead spots, and the controversy that can swirl around these things.

I later learned that Director Giles had come out swinging at a ‘Electoral Area Services Meeting’ as she had done some time back, against such a proposal citing health risks and the unpleasant aesthetics of the towers.

Soon shoppers will be able to call home on their cell phones from Country Grocer!

Soon shoppers will be able to call home on their cell phones from Country Grocer!

Well that was then but surprise, surprise a change of heart and an endorsement for a smaller tower to be installed behind Rona’s Hardware emporium. Yeah!

Just a minute, what happened, what changed? I mean a complete reversal, a new beginning, a new found flexibility perhaps.

CVRD Director Gerry Giles Supports Cell Phone Tower.

Now the very modern and up to date CVRD has set up a video service so that you can watch your elected representatives in action.

Sit back and marvel at the eloquence, the mastery of the persuasive elements of our language and you will see progress in action.

Here  are the  CVRD Director’s in full colour. Turn the sound up as they tend to mumble.

An even better spot would be at the top of Cobble hill mountain. It might generate some revenue for the park. It would reach far and wide there. It would reach Rverside road and monastery rd. also it would be nowhere near any dwellings to cause harm to anyone’s health. Not that I believe them to be harmful in any case.

It would be ideal in the sense that it is out of the way but the costs to run power up to the top, maintenance, access and such would make it an unattractive choice.

Just get it done! Telus lousy cell service in the South end has been costing me money for years….
